Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 19, 2026

Kovi is a parent-controlled app that lets families watch YouTube safely. A parent curates which videos and channels a child may watch; the child can browse, search, and request content, but only plays what the parent has approved. This Privacy Policy explains what information Kovi collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It is written to align with Apple's App Privacy guidelines.

Children's privacy

Kovi is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian on behalf of a child. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and children do not create their own accounts. A parent creates the account, adds a child profile, and controls what content the child can access.

We treat any information associated with a child profile as sensitive and limit it to what the app needs to function — for example, a profile name you choose and the videos that profile has watched or requested. We do not use children's information for advertising, and we do not sell it. If you believe a child has provided us information without your consent, contact us and we will delete it.

Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to operate Kovi. Mapped to Apple's data categories, this includes:

  • Contact Info — the email address a parent uses to create and sign in to an account, and to receive account and support messages. If you join our waitlist, we collect the email address you submit.

  • Identifiers — an account user ID and child-profile IDs that we generate to operate the service. These are not advertising identifiers.

  • User Content — the profile name you choose for a child, and the videos and channels you approve, block, or request within the app.

  • Browsing & Search History — within Kovi, the search terms entered and the videos a child profile views, including playback progress, so parents can review activity and children can resume where they left off.

  • Usage Data — basic product-interaction information about how the app is used, to keep features working correctly.

  • Diagnostics — limited crash and performance information used to find and fix problems.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, health or financial data, photos, or similar sensitive categories.

How we use your information

Kovi uses the information above only for the following purposes:

  • App Functionality — to create and secure accounts, authenticate sign-in, sync approvals and watch history across devices, and provide customer support.

  • Product Personalization — to show a child the content a parent has approved and to surface relevant suggestions and “continue watching” within those approved boundaries.

  • Analytics & Diagnostics — to understand which features are used and to diagnose crashes and performance issues so we can improve the app.

What we don't do

  • We do not use your data, or your child's data, for tracking across other companies' apps or websites.

  • We do not show third-party advertising in Kovi, and we do not share data with ad networks or data brokers.

  • We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

Kovi relies on a small number of service providers that process data on our behalf, under contract and only as needed to run the service:

  • YouTube — video content shown in Kovi comes from YouTube via Google's APIs. Playback within the app is subject to Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and the YouTube Terms of Service.

  • Cloud hosting — our servers and database, which store your account, profiles, approvals, and activity, run on cloud infrastructure providers.

  • Email delivery — we use an email provider to send account, waitlist, and support messages.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete a child profile or your account, we delete the associated personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.

Your choices and rights

As the parent or guardian who controls the account, you can review the information associated with your account and each child profile, edit or remove approved and blocked content, and delete a child profile or the entire account at any time from within the app. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information. You can unsubscribe from waitlist or marketing emails using the link in those messages.

Security

We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encryption of data in transit, hashed account passwords, and access controls that limit data to the account it belongs to. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to notify you if a breach materially affects you.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Kovi evolves or as laws change. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of Kovi after an update means you accept the revised policy.
